BIO

I create pottery and other ceramic art because I love the feel of clay in my hands and the process of creating those objects. Often, the creation process turns out to be more valuable than the finished piece.

Clay is a great teacher and companion. Working with clay allows for great life lessons in that it teaches me to be more patient, balanced, and centered. Throwing is a very meditative process and can help clear my mind so that I’m not thinking of anything but what I’m doing in that moment.

In addition to the process of creating the work, I love that the finished piece is something touchable and durable; something made by one person’s hands, to be touched and used by others.

The totems I make can be personalized for any occasion (i.e., birthday, anniversary, special event, in memoriam) and tailored to any theme (i.e., coffee/tea, animals, garden, fortune cookies, positive affirmations or meaningful words).

My pottery is hand-thrown on a pottery wheel and is food safe. It is also safe for microwave and dishwasher use. The pieces can be combined in a variety of ways, as the wavy incised design ties them all together, whether they are mixed and matched or remain in a single color theme.

I am happy to talk about custom orders – just ask!
