Nature's Canvas

Artists: Mary Fahey
Date: September 11 - October 6
Medium: Gourds
Reception: Friday, Sept. 11, 7 pm - 9 pm

Mary Fahey has been a nature lover since childhood. Her love of all things growing, grazing, crawling and flying shines through in her artwork. Her subjects are inspired by nature and her chosen canvas, the gourd, comes from nature. In fact, Mary grows most of the gourds she uses in her artwork on her small farm in Arbuckle.

Mary begins her artistic process by creating a unique hand-drawn design on each gourd. Next, the design is woodburned into the gourd surface. Color is then added to the design in the form of gold leaf and archival inks and dyes. Embellishments are often added, such as native grasses, pine needles, fabric, beads and more. “Nature’s Canvas” is a show of all new work by Mary Fahey.
