Loom with a View-Weaving
Reception: Friday, November 10, 2017, 7:00pm - 9:00 pm
The Artery presents Loom With a View showcasing the fiber art and weaving of Robin Lynde. The show will extend from October 27 to November 27, with a reception on Friday, November 10, 7-9 p.m.
Robin Lynde - Dyed Yarn Robin's show will have a huge variety of warm and cozy items, ideal for cool, fall weather. Look for ponchos, scarves, shawls, and wool blankets. For fun gift giving, she has woven sheep as toys or small pillows. A funky and wild wool wreath would make a striking holiday decoration.
Robin's flock of 60+Jacob sheep supply much of the unique spotted wool for hand spinning, knitting and weaving. For her show, Robin mostly used yarn from this year's shearing. Many pieces are the natural color of her sheep. She also used natural dyes taken from her plants. For example: rusts and gold are from coreopsis; greener yarns are from weeping willows. Robin explains that she also incorporates some yarns and dyes from local ranches. She decided on the title of her show when a friend pointed out all the old windows she has accumulated. These windows are now incorporated into her show.
As an added bonus, Robin will also display her photography that captures the colors and flavors of Robin's rural home and farm.
