Spotlight Artist 2026

Linda Nunes

June 3 – 29, 2026

Originally from California’s Bay Area, I’ve spent the last few decades working from my art studio in Rancho Cordova, California. I’m grateful to have the chance to use my art education received at California State University, Sacramento many years ago.

I work with bee’s wax in either a hot mixture with resin called encaustic or in a cold wax and oil combination. With either medium, the work is always completed on cradled wood panels. Over the years I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to study under some very fine art instructors including Sara Post, Sue Stover and Lisa Pressman. For the past dozen years I’ve enjoyed teaching encaustic in private sessions and group workshops at galleries like, Sacramento Fine Arts (Carmichael), Blue Line Gallery (Roseville), Elk Grove Fine Arts Center and the Crocker Art Museum.

As a very young girl I experienced physical mistreatment and while today I feel like a quite normal, well-adjusted adult, those past incidents can’t help but shape me and especially the work that I create. My hope is that my artwork will be viewed as joyful and joy-filled. The art is generally abstract or non-objective, often with unusual shapes, lively texture and a playful mix of media. I believe there is a strong overall childlike quality that makes the work recognizable with inspiration coming from recent topics, artistic influences, and sometimes completely mundane experiences. I feel that my faith, years of art practice and experimentation have rescued me in certain ways. It certainly motivates me to continue moving forward.
